Please plan to join us for the 81st Annual General Meeting and Awards Banquet for the IEEE Ottawa section.

Our Keynote Speaker will be Chris Hobbs on “Addressing Safety in Complex Systems.”

Railway signalling, autonomous cars, medical devices, nuclear power stations, aircraft autopilots, etc. depend on software to keep them safe. A software failure in those systems can harm humans or the environment. Chris is a member of the SCSC (Safety Critical Systems Club) working group preparing guidance on the safety of such systems. In this talk Chris will describe some of the surprises that have arisen during working group discussions as members from different industries have begun to understand the magnitude of the problems.

This event sells out every year and attracts 120+ members and leaders from academia, industry, and government. In addition to a great agenda, there will be plenty of time allotted for socializing, networking and enjoying a night of entertainment.
